13 Strangers Share a Van After Their Flight Gets Canceled

Flying can be stressful, especially when so many logistics go into the process of dropping off luggage, going through security, and actually getting on the plane. It’s even more stressful when the airline cancels the flight you were relying on to get to your destination, without any options for an alternative. This was the case for a group of passengers taking a Frontier flight to Tennessee. When the airline refused to help them further, the passengers took matters into their own hands.

One passenger had suggested to the customer service desk to send them in a van to their destination. When they refused, another passenger overheard and extended the offer to the people around her.

“Amy had overheard and turned around and yelled to the crowd that if anyone was interested, to just get together over in a certain part of the line. People slowly made their way over to us and said they were interested!” Michelle Miller told Bored Panda.

The strangers were going to Tennessee for a variety of different reasons—some were seeing friends, going back to school, and one woman was even trying to arrive to deliver a keynote speech!

They rented a van and drove straight for 10 hours. “It was tight for all of us to fit with luggage, but we made it work. [The worst part was] having to inconvenience other passengers with bathroom breaks and feeling like an inconvenience,” Michelle said.

After driving all night, they finally made it to Knoxville—but the story doesn’t end there. “We are all friends and are staying in touch!” Michelle says. “Four of them went out for karaoke last night in Knoxville.” These people turned a bad situation into a trip they’ll never forget, and made new friends along the way!
