3 Beautiful Beaches Without Sand

A beach doesn’t have to be sandy to be beautiful, and these gorgeous beaches around the world prove it. Below are three of our favorite sand-free beaches from around the world—and there are many more just like them that are waiting for you to find them.

Shell Beach in Australia

Shell Beach is located in Western Australia, and it’s comprised of small cockle shells that give it a pink hue. The seawater here is so salty that cockle shells can easily survive and thrive, so if you’re looking for an unusual beach to visit, this is the right place for you.

I got quite a few messages yesterday asking me how I took this photo on my own 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s true. One of the hardest things about solo travel is lacking a photographer but I am trying not to let that stop me from getting the shots I really want! Want to know all my secrets? Keep reading because I’m about to fill you in! 😉 So I really wanted to take a behind the scenes shot of this one for you because it was just THAT ridiculous but I use my phone to take most of my photos and it was taking this one so you’re going to have to use your imagination here 💭 Ok. Here we go. I put my phone on timer mode for 10 seconds, put it in my mouth, tilted my head back for the perfect angle and then frantically tried to grab shells and hoped they were in a heart shape. Glamorous right! 🐚 I spent most of my first day solo watching two couples take the most incredible photos for one another. It’s safe to say I was a tad salty but that could also just have been from all the shells that practically ended up in my mouth when I threw them up in the air for another photo. That one still to come. Stay tuned 😂 Any tips for a solo photographer? Durdle Door Beach in England

The Durdle Door Beach in Dorset, England, looks sandy at first glance, but it’s actually made up of tiny pebbles. It got its name after Durdle Door, a stunning arch that bursts up through the water.

Sarakiniko in Greece

This list can’t be complete without at least one beach in Greece. Sarakiniko is located on the island of Milos. Instead of sand, it has volcanic white rocks, and we don’t have to tell you how stunning it looks. The emerald tide pools are perfect for swimming, and the beach is typically not crowded with tourists—which is an additional plus.
