Kuala Lumpur is one of those cities where old and new come together in perfect harmony to create something truly extortionary. Tall skyscrapers and modern buildings are scattered all around it, but that’s not stopping the Malaysian capital from being home to some beautiful temples including these three.
Batu Caves
Batu Caves are one of Kuala Lumpur’s most popular day-trip attractions, located north of the city in Selangor. This attraction is positioned on the top of the steep hill, and it features limestone caves with Hindu temples and shrines hiding inside. Batu Caves also offer amazing views of the city, and there’s a huge statue of a Hindu god located next to them.
Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
One of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest Hindu temples has been around since 1879 and you couldn’t miss it even if you tried. This five-tiered tower with ornate, colorful carvings, representing various gods and goddesses in different shapes and sizes, is instantly recognizable and it’s one of the city’s most vibrant spots.
Thean Hou Temple
Thean Hou Temple has only been around since 1987, but that’s not stopping it from being one of Kuala Lumpur’s most significant temples. This six-tiered temple blends elements of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism into one imposing structure, featuring three altars, and many ornate, colorful details.
