If everyone in your family happens to be a huge nature lover—including the little ones—New Zealand is probably one of the countries on your bucket list. Its capital of Wellington is home to countless family-friendly spots and here are three that you shouldn’t miss for the world.

Wellington Zoo

If a visit to a zoo happens to be your idea of kid-friendly fun, Wellington won’t leave you disappointed. The first zoo in New Zealand covers an enormous area of 32 acres and it’s home to a wide range of native animals, in addition to offering interactive talks and demonstrations, a themed playground, and picnic areas.

Wellington Cable Car

A ride on this iconic cable car is a quintessential Wellington experience, enjoyed by people of all ages.  It’s been around since 1902 and it now only takes five minutes to get to the top, but it’s a ride worth taking because you’ll get to witness some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Wellington.

Weta Cave

New Zealand famously served as the filming location of The Lord of the Rings franchise and you can explore this part of its heritage at Weta Cave. It’s not an actual natural cave, but more of a movie prop museum and shop, featuring many fun displays and statues where you can take amazing photos with your family.
