Vienna is heaven on Earth for fans of classic architecture, and it simply wouldn’t be the same without its opulent palaces. The Austrian capital is home to quite a few palaces that fully capture its architectural richness, and these three are cream of the crop.

Schönbrunn Palace

One of Vienna’s most popular tourist attractions, this 18th-century baroque summer palace is equally stunning inside and out. Schönbrunn will wow you with its beautifully landscaped gardens with a large maze before you step inside, but hundreds of rococo rooms inside it are equally impressive.

The Hofburg

One of the main attractions in Vienna’s city center, the Hofburg once served as the principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty. Its main purpose changed in 1946 when it became the official residence of the president of Austria, and you can now find several museums on its grounds.

Belvedere Palace

Another stunning palace that you shouldn’t miss for the world while in Vienna, Belvedere consists of two Baroque palaces surrounded by scenic gardens. One of the things this palace is best known for is its extensive art collection, notable for housing several works by the prominent Austrian painter Gustav Klimt.
