Lake Tahoe is one of the prettiest places you that should visit at least once in a lifetime. Crystal clear water nestled among beautiful mountain peaks will leave you breathless.

Although there is no perfect time to travel to this world-class, year-round resort destination, anytime is the great time. And due to its remarkable beauty it is, understandably, very popular and can get a bit crowded at times. We present to you 3 things you can only do in Lake Tahoe in the fall.

Go Swimming

No, it is not a joke. The temperature does cool down in the fall, but Tahoe and alpine lake waters stay tolerable until mid-October. Also, there is another great water activity you can do in North Lake Tahoe; rent a flyboard and glide through the sky and water. Get your leg muscles ready!

Salmon Watching

Like swallows or storks, other animals are getting ready for the winter as well. As the temperature drops, there comes the instinctive urge for the kokanee salmon to leave the lake and go upstream to spawn. Their beautiful “migration” best can be seen in Taylor Creek. Halfway down the trail is a Stream Profile Chamber, where you can get underwater views too.

Hike In The Hope Valley

Autumn is the perfect time to put on your hiking boots and get in the woods in Hope Valley.
