Staying at a hostel comes with a long list of benefits, but fancy amenities aren’t one of them. Unless you book a private room, you’ll most likely have to share the hostel bathroom with other guests, and here are three things you should always pack if that’s the case.

Toiletries

Most hostels don’t provide free toiletries, and you won’t always know what’s waiting for you if they do. That’s why it’s always a good idea to pack your own toiletries when staying at a hostel and avoid leaving them in the bathroom so other guests wouldn’t take them.

Towels

Towels are another perk that most hotels don’t provide free of charge. Always look for a hostel that does, so you won’t waste space in your suitcase or pay extra to rent a towel. If you can’t find somewhere that provides one, bring your own. Just like toiletries, towels are best not left behind in the bathroom, especially if you’re bringing your own.

Flip Flops

Hostel showers are usually cleaned on daily basis, but when bathrooms are shared it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be cleaned and sanitized after every use. That’s why it’s highly recommended to pack flip-flops or some other type of shower shoes. In addition to feeling less icky, this is a good idea safety-wise so you wouldn’t slip in the shower.
