Chicago is home to some pretty amazing kid-friendly attractions that you can visit with your entire family, and zoos and aquariums happen to be among the very best. If a visit to them happens to be your idea of family fun, here are three spots that you should check out in the Windy City.

Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park is one of Chicago’s must-see spots, and it also happens to be home to the city’s most impressive zoo. Lincoln Park Zoo covers 35 acres, and it’s home to over 1,000 animals, ranging from big cats and monkeys to polar bears and penguins. It offers a children’s area and interactive farm exhibits.

Brookfield Zoo

Also known as Chicago Zoological Park, this attraction in Chicago’s Brookfield suburb was the zoo of many firsts. In addition to using moats and ditches instead of cages, it also housed America’s first exhibit of giant pandas, the first fully indoor dolphin exhibit, and the first fully indoor rainforest simulation called Tropic World.

Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium has been around since 1930 and it was once the largest indoor aquarium in the world. Its tanks now hold five million gallons, and you can find 32,000 animals on its grounds. In addition to being home to one of the most impressive saltwater fish collections that you’ll ever see, Shedd Aquarium will win you over with its breathtaking views of Lake Michigan.
