People will tell you that Paris, France, is the ultimate romantic getaway, and go on about its fantastic architecture, captivating culture, and rich history. However, there are some important things about Paris no one tells you about.

Monday is a Rest Day

Saturday and Sunday are usually the rest days in all major European cities. However, in Paris, most businesses are closed or work short hours on Mondays. This doesn’t include museums and famous tourist attractions.

Parisians Are Not Rude

French people, especially Parisians, have a reputation for being rude. However, that is not actually the case. They are simply more direct and have less tolerance towards inappropriate behavior. If you are respectful towards their city and them, Parisians will treat you with respect as well.

Smoking Isn’t Welcomed Anymore

Paris was considered a smoking-friendly city for a long time, but that is not the case anymore. All restaurants, bars, and cafes have a strict no-smoking policy unless they have outside seating. Also, there are more than 50 parks, gardens, and public squares around the city where smoking is also forbidden.

Food is Really Expensive

Paris has some of the best restaurants in the world. However, in order to experience them, you will need to be ready to spend a lot of money. The food, especially the one served in popular restaurants, is notoriously expensive and will make you think twice about dining out.
