4 Things to Leave at Home When You Travel

When you go on a trip, you spend a lot of time thinking about what to bring with you. But something important you may forget to think about is what not to pack. Yet inevitably, you’ll find yourself with too many things and not enough suitcase space… So what should you leave behind?

Books

In this day and age, there’s absolutely no reason to bring books on a trip. That is, bringing one is fine, but the second you consider bringing more than one book—you should think twice. Books are heavy and take up not an insignificant amount of space, so save yourself the trouble and just download some eBooks to your phone or tablet or eReader.

Laptop

Unless you are going to work on your trip and absolutely need a computer, it’s preferable to leave your laptop behind. These are heavy and expensive, and you’ll just spend too much time worried about potentially having it stolen.

Expensive Jewelry

On that note, go ahead and leave behind any expensive jewelry. Travel outfits are all about simplicity, and you don’t want to be wearing flashy diamonds that just signal to pickpockets that you’re an easy target.

Hair Dryer (And a Lot of Other Toiletries)

While you may plan to use your hair dryer every day, it’s actually a perfect example of something you don’t need to pack. Nearly any place you stay will have one you can use—and with the right plug for the country you’re in. Same goes for lots of other toiletries, like shampoo and lotion.
