Depending on the destination and type of accommodation, the standard check-in time ranges any time between 1 pm and 4 pm but what if you need to check in before that time? If you’re reaching your destination first thing in the morning, here are some tips for filling your time.

Ask For Early Check-In

The best thing to do when you’re arriving at the destination early is to ask for early check-in. It’s a good idea to call in advance and see if early check-in is available and if you’ll have to pay extra for this amenity.

Switching Rooms

When asking for early check-in, be ready to accept a downgrade from time to time, especially when staying at hotels, because less-fancy rooms are usually free or easier to clean up.

Leave Your Luggage

If getting an early check-in isn’t an option, ask if there’s a place where you can leave your luggage so you could explore the city without dragging your bags around.

Grab Some Food

Grabbing some local food or checking out the hotel restaurant is also a great way to fill your time, especially since you’ll probably be hungry after your flight.

Enjoy the Lobby

If you didn’t arrive at your hotel too early, hanging out in the lobby is also an option. There’s probably a bar on the premises where you can grab some drinks and meet fellow travelers.
