Advice From One Solo Traveler To Another

Taking a vacation at any age can be an exciting journey. The market place is designed for couples, friends and families to explore the globe, but it’s not so easy as a solo traveler. More and more people are now choosing to take vacations on their own, but there are a few things that are worth considering when making your booking.

First Night’s Stay

It is important that you book somewhere for your first night. You will be tired after a flight, especially long haul, so make sure you have somewhere not too far from the airport where you can rest. When using internet searches, you can search for properties that include a free airport pick up, so you have less to worry about when you arrive.

Pack Light

Avoid extra costs by packing light. Airlines will charge for checking in luggage, so if you are going to multiple destinations, the costs soon add up. You can pack light, or you can consider buying clothes while you are away. If you are traveling Asia, clothes can be very cheap and work out much cheaper than luggage fees.

Making Dinner Friends

It can be daunting traveling alone, but it’s easy to meet people when you share a meal. Whether you book a cooking course or use one of the many apps designed for travelers to meet up, it’s a good idea to meet up with others who can give you travel tips and help you feel more connected.

Safety First

Make sure you have back up copies of all your travel documents, just in case you lose them or they are taken. Also do not tell strangers where you are staying. If they do ask, just give them a vague answer.

Embrace the Culture

Solo travelers often get more chances to meet people, especially the locals. Embrace the new culture and try the food, drink. Eat, pray, love… you know the drill.
