Argentina’s Quebrada de las Flechas: A Must-See

Located deep in the Argentinian interior lies one of the most scenic stretches of road and geological formations that you can imagine. The Quebrada de las Flechas, which is located right on Route 40 in the Argentinian region of Salta, is a sight that must be seen to be believed.

This geological curiosity resulted from the constant erosion and shifting of millions of year old rocks in a rocky and mountainous region. What resulted is a large stretch of area in which jagged, pointy rocks poke up from the ground up to 60 feet into the air.

The arid landscape and the harsh terrain, combined with the strange rocks, make the area look like something straight out of another planet. It would be easy to think you were in Mars as you drive along the road which traverses the rock formations as they tower above your vehicle.

Any trip to this region should be planned carefully, as the dirt road that leads you to this place can be treacherous if you take the wrong type of vehicle. All population centers are quite far away, so be sure that you have plenty of gas and supplies if you go.

With just a little bit of planning, however, you will be able to discover one of the most unique landscapes that this planet has to offer.
