Pablo Picasso is one of the artists who put Spain on the map, and his paintings can now be found in many international museums. His home country is still the best place to explore his body of work, and several of the top Spanish museums are home to many of his best paintings.

Picasso Museum Barcelona

This is the first museum that comes to mind when someone mentions Pablo Picasso. The legendary artist spent many years living and working in Barcelona, and many of his early paintings are featured in this museum with a total of over 4,000 works on display.

Picasso Museum Málaga

Picasso might’ve spent his formative years in Barcelona, but Málaga was his hometown, and it celebrates his legacy to this day. A museum dedicated to his art can be found in the Buenavista Palace and it’s home to 285 works that Picasso’s family members donated to this institution.

Reina Sofia Museum

Unlike the previous two museums, Reina Sofia isn’t dedicated to Picasso, but that doesn’t make it any less extraordinary. Spain’s national museum of the 20th-century is home to the artist’s iconic painting Guernica, and that’s why people don’t mind waiting in line to buy a ticket when in Madrid.
