Weta Cave is run by Weta Workshop, the popular creative studio and practical effects company that worked on Academy Award-winning movies like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, and Robin Hood. Here you can get behind the scenes, see the replicas of costumes and props, learn more about practical effects, and check out some interesting video projections. Best of all, the entry is free.

Pinnacles Track

Pinnacles Track is a popular hiking location among locals, but tourists rarely decide to visit it. This is a great thing for you, as you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and fantastic rock formations without dealing with large crowds. This is also where some scenes from The Lord of The Rings movies were filmed.  

Government House

While the Government House serves as a residence for New Zealand’s Governor-General, the place is usually open to the public. You can check out the formal rooms, get to know more about the history of the site, and enjoy the intricate wooden design of the building.
