Bali, Indonesia, is the perfect place to engage in water activities like scuba diving, kite surfing, and snorkeling. The latter is especially popular among tourists and locals thanks to the island’s shallow waters, diverse marine life, and colorful coral reefs. But while you’ll probably have a great snorkeling experience almost anywhere in Bali, the truth is that some spots are better than others. Check out the best of them below.

Blue Lagoon Beach, Padangbai

Located in the east part of Bali in the small town of Padangbai, Blue Lagoon Beach is considered a perfect spot for those looking to make their first snorkeling dives. The water is clean, warm, and calm while offering plenty of fish encounters and opportunities to enjoy coral reefs.

Pos 2, Menjangan Island

Since Menjangan island is uninhabited, you’ll have to get on the boat from Pemuteran in order to get to Pos 2. However, the trip is well worth it because the spot is heaven for divers and snorkelers. Some of its many sights include a stunning underwater coral reef canyon and schools of rainbow-hued reef fish. The place is also known for offering the best visibility in Bali, reaching 130 ft.

Wreck of the USAT Liberty, Tulamben

If you are an experienced snorkeling enthusiast and are looking for some adventure, checking out the wreck of the USAT Liberty near Tulamben should be your priority. While the wreck itself lies on the depth of 100 ft, you can see the majority of the ship even by diving just several feet into the water. The scenery is astonishing, thanks to artificial coral reefs covering the wreck and diversity of fish life that made it their home.
