Puerto Vallarta is a relaxed beach town on the coast of Jalisco, Mexico. It has long been popular with tourists thanks to its spectacular beaches, water sports, and fine dining options. Here are a few attractions you should not miss on your next trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Las Islas Marietas

Located just off the coast of Nayarit, Mexico, these uninhabited islands were formed thousands of years ago by volcanic activity. They can only be accessed during low tide via tours from Puerto and Nuevo Vallarta. After the hour-long boat journey, all passengers jump into the water, with snorkels, to see the vibrant marine life around them before swimming to the beautiful protected beach.

Cerro de la Cruz

Cerro de la Cruz is the peak of a steep climb up the La Cruz hill that towers over the East side of downtown Puerto Vallarta. Note that the hour-long climb is sweaty and challenging, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it.

Vallarta Botanical Gardens

Further out from the center of Vallarta, you’ll find the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. This spot is often underrated by visitors, but it is absolutely stunning. Particularly impressive is the orchid house, which houses over one hundred species of orchids.

Vallarta Marina

Vallarta Marina is the perfect place to wind down after a day of adventures. Gaze at the sunset or night sky from one of the many restaurants and bars along the strip. For those who like to bike or rollerblade, it’s better to visit the Marina during the day.
