Can You Pack These Items in a Carry-On?

Some people believe that rules are made to be broken, but we don’t recommend taking that attitude when it comes to the TSA. The Transportation Security Administration was created following 9/11, with its main objective to protect passengers. And yes, that sometimes means confiscating your water bottle. The TSA dictates what can and can’t be carried onto the plane for safety reasons. If you’re planning on flying, keep this guide on hand to know what to pack where.

Razors

Hairy legs on holiday is a no-no. If you intend on packing your disposable razor, the good news is that it can be packed in either your carry-on or checked-in luggage. The same goes for replacement blades and electric razors. Straight or safety razors are permitted in a carry-on as long as the blades are removed (put them in your checked bag).

Makeup

Solid and powder-based make-up can happily go in your checked luggage or carry-on. Liquid, lotion, gel, paste, or creamy make-up, on the other hand, must be stored in containers that are 3.4 ounces or less, and all the containers combined need to fit inside a single quart-sized zip-top bag if you don’t want to check them in.

Deodorant and Shampoo

Roll-on, aerosol, and gel deodorants also need to fit into one quart-sized, zip-top bag in order to be packed as hand luggage. The same goes for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Remember to keep all containers smaller than 3.4 ounces.
