If you’re a musician who loves recording and producing your own music, chances are you miss your instruments and gear while you’re out traveling. While it can be fun and exciting to fly to all sorts of fun places, a true musician misses their instruments when they’re no longer with them. However, what if there was an alternative? Is there actually a way to record music while you’re traveling?

Nifty Hardware

The answer to this question is a resounding yes. There are actually many ways to record music while you’re traveling—if you’re willing to sacrifice your normal comforts. You also may need to sacrifice some room in your suitcase, but if neither of those issues bother you, you’ll be recording on the road in no time.

First off, there are small instruments you can take with you on the road, such as ukeleles or travel guitars. Second, there are microphones that you can plug into your laptop via a USB cable. Finally, there are cutting-edge hardware units such as travel-sized audio interfaces that do a pretty darn good job.

So as we mentioned, yes, you can definitely make it work. You’ll just need to buy the right hardware, and not care too much about lugging a small instrument wherever you go!
