If you’re a woman who loves traveling with a fiery passion, we totally feel you girl. There’s nothing quite like allowing the world to take you by its adventurous sails, as you learn more about various cities as well as yourself. If you get pregnant, the prospect of not traveling for nine months straight isn’t a fun one—especially if you’re a keen jet-setter. So is it okay to travel if you’re pregnant?

It Depends On a Few Things

The real answer to this question is that it really does depend on a handful of things. First of all, it depends on how far along you are. If you’re in your final trimester, doctors will likely not recommend that you travel, and definitely not in the last month or two. If you’re in the first trimester, doctors will allow it—but if you’re going through morning sickness, chances are you won’t want to yourself! The sweet spot for traveling as a pregnant woman is during your second trimester.

Another factor that it depends on is how far you’re flying. International flights (or any flights longer than 10 hours) are best avoided altogether, but if you simply have to make the trip, we’d recommend doing it some time in your second trimester. If the flight is quick (such as two or three hours), you can pull off traveling in your seventh month, and possibly even your eighth—but we wouldn’t recommend the latter either.
