Natural wonders can be found in pretty much every corner of Vietnam, but you should travel to Cát Bà Island to discover this country in its full glory. It’s one of its best-hidden secrets, and here are a few reasons why you should consider checking it out.

Natural Beauty

The main reason to visit this island is pretty obvious—its immense natural beauty. Cát Bà National Park is located on its premises and it’s best known for its diverse flora and fauna. Most notably, this island is home to Cát Bà langur, one of the most endangered primates in the world, with its population estimated at just 70 individuals.

History and Legends

Cát Bà Island literally stands for “Women’s Island”, and legend has it that it got this name after three women of the Tran Dynasty were killed. Their bodies washed ashore on this island, and a temple for each one was built.

Hạ Long Bay

Hạ Long Bay is Cát Bà Island’s most stunning attraction, and it features multiple rainforest-covered limestone islands, scattered across its emerald waters. In addition to being home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, Hạ Long Bay is a popular diving, rock climbing, and hiking destination.
