While there’s certainly no shortage of things to do and see in London, there are also plenty of sites and attractions accessible by car or train that are well worth venturing a bit out of the city for. Should you find yourself in the UK, consider going off the beaten path to check out one of our favorite sites without straying too far from the capital.

Bath

Located 115 miles from London, this city is named for baths that the Romans built in the 2nd century. Today you can visit the hot springs and head to Thermae Bath Spa for some pampering treatments. When you’re done, there are plenty of bars and pubs to relax and enjoy the local fare.

Brighton

One hour by train from London will take you to this hip and happening beach town full of unique stores and restaurants. Palace Pier is the place to be if you’re looking to check out all of the local businesses. Take a walk on the rocky beach and breathe the salt air.

Cambridge

Cambridge is a beautiful little city about an hour east of London by train with plenty to offer any traveler. Take a stroll through the Botanic Gardens or a tour of the famous university, check out the Fitzwilliam museum, or visit St. Mary’s church. It’s a short trip sure to be worth your while.
