Known for its cornfields and grassy plains, Nebraska may not be the first state to come to mind when you think of stunning water scenery. But although it doesn’t have any beaches, it is home to a number of stunning lakes. Here are some of the best lakes in Nebraska that you should pay a visit to.

Lewis and Clark Lake, Cedar County

Located in the northwest of the state, this is a popular tourist destination. The 13,000-hectare lake is great for camping, hiking, and horse trails.

Lake McConaughy, Keith County

This enormous 14,000-hectare lake is the largest in the state. It is an excellent spot for windsurfing, swimming, and fishing. You can camp around the area and there are plenty of picnic areas if you fancy a spot for lunch.

Harlan County Reservoir, Harlan County

This is one of the best lakes to visit if you’re a nature lover. The area is full of beavers, eagles, and whitetail deer. It is also a prime fishing spot; you can catch catfish, white bass, pike, and much more.

Glenn Cunningham Lake, Douglas County

This is an ideal spot for outdoor activities—there are plenty of hiking trails, tracks for horseriding, cycling spots, and campsites.
