Berlin, Germany, is a beautiful city with a lot of history. There are so many things to do and see here that you should look to use your visit wisely, no matter how many days you are staying. One of the best ways to do that is avoiding these tourist traps.
Checkpoint Charlie
Checkpoint Charlie, the famous crossing point between West Berlin and East Berlin, is usually dubbed as a “must-see” tourist attraction in Berlin. But in reality, there is not much to see here. Much of the crossing point is made out of reconstructed parts, the guardhouse and barracks are replicas, and there are actors posing as guards.
TV Tower
TV Tower promises a panoramic view of Berlin and delivers on that promise. However, the place is usually crowded, so you will have to work hard to enjoy those views, and the ticket to access it is quite steep. You can get similarly great views from other places like the Panorama Terrace at Park Inn Hotel.
Alexanderplatz
Considering Alexanderplatz as a tourist trap might be controversial, considering it is one of the most popular public squares in the city. However, everything in and around it is courted to tourists. Everything is expensive, it’s always crowded and loud, and it’s a modern place without a lot of charm. You can check it out while passing by and then quickly head to Potsdamer Platz for a much better experience.
