Don’t Miss The Street Food of Moscow, Russia

Moscow, Russia has a lot of splendid attractions to see, but you probably don’t think about its gastronomic culture when you think of the Russian capital. Nonetheless, like most other places, street food is alive and well here and there are plenty of things worth trying the next time you’re in the city on the Moskva River. Be sure to sample these street delicacies the next time you head to Moscow!

Pirozhki

This classic which is made by babushkas around the country consists of a fried mini-pie that is filled with meats and/or vegetables. Warm and filling on the cold winter days that this city experiences, you will find them at street stands all over.

Boiled Corn

As strange as it might sound, Russians and Muscovites are huge fans of boiled corn when the weather is cold as a filling, nutritious snack. Smothered in butter and salt, you’ll find that this treat, whether it’s in a cup or on the cob, is a favorite in the capital.

Pelmeni

Many Eastern European countries have their own beloved dumplings, and Russia is no exception. Arguably their favorite comfort food is pelmeni, a small boiled dumpling which is filled with minced meat, mushrooms, and herbs.
