While many people go abroad for natural wonders, what they don’t realize is the U.S. is full of hidden ones. Even though these natural wonders may be less known, they’re absolutely breathtaking. Here are three hidden ones in your backyard, waiting to be explored.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Colorado

Sure there’s the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, but Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is one of the most inducible natural beauties. The giant desert peaks are a great destination for horseback riding, hiking, or and boarding.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Adjacent to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole is known for its cowboy landscapes and snowy peaks. Marked by Grand Teton National Park’s mountains, the forest-nested valley is home to massive elk herds at the National Elk Refuge and it has rushing whitewater rapids on the Snake River. During the winter, people flock to Jackson Hole to ski Corbet’s Couloir.

Denali National Park, Alaska

Home to North America’s tallest peak, Denali National Park has six million acres of Alaskan wilderness including forest, tundra, and glaciers. There are also vistas and tons of Alaskan wildlife like moose, grizzly bears, birds, caribou, and sheep.
