Beautiful palaces can be found in pretty much every major Austrian city, and Salzburg is no exception. In addition to being known as Mozart’s birthplace, this charming city is home to several stunning palaces that will make you fall in love with its classic architecture and rich history.

Mirabell Palace

This 17th-century palace is located in the heart of Salzburg’s historic center, and it’s equally beautiful inside and out. Mirabell Hall, which has a lavish ballroom and concert hall serves as the venue for Salzburg Palace Concerts, but this palace will also win you over with its ornamental gardens.

Schloss Hellbrunn

Speaking of Salzburg’s palaces with beautifully landscaped gardens, it doesn’t get much better than Hellbrunn. This 17th-century Renaissance palace features everything from pleasure gardens and novelty fountains to a theater, but you won’t find any bedrooms inside because it was envisioned as a day residence.

Fortress Hohensalzburg

This large medieval fortress has been around since the 11th century, and it’s one of Salzburg’s top tourist attractions. It’s one of the largest medieval castles in Europe, and its hilltop location makes it even more magical because it offers amazing views over the city to the Alps.
