Budapest is home to many picture-perfect attractions, and one of its most Insta-friendly spots hasn’t been around for too long. The giant moon installation can be found in the heart of the Hungarian capital, and it’s located in front of Lumiere Hall near the iconic Váci Street.
The giant moon installation has been described as “an exact replica of the entire surface of the Moon, with a highly detailed impression that even includes the far side of the Moon.” It’s located in the heart of Piarista köz passageway, in front of Lumiere Hall.
Despite its gigantic size, it only weighs 25 kilograms, and the constant airflow inside helps it keep its round shape. Its close proximity to the bustling Váci Street transformed it into a huge sensation, with many tourists and locals taking photos and videos and sharing them on Instagram and TikTok, with the moon hanging above them.
Lumiere Hall is using this giant moon installation as a part of the promo for the interactive Van Gogh exhibition, exploring the life and work of the famous artist. You can see the moon all day long for free, while the Lumiere Hall itself is open is open daily between 10 am – 10 pm, and regular tickets cost around $17 (6,000 HUF).
