Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus, so you obviously have to spend some time there, and once you see it, you’ll have no problem spending ample time there.
Nicosia is a really interesting city not only because of the history, but because of the present political state. It is the only capital in the world that’s split between two legal sections, making it the only divided city in the world! You can actually walk along the green line and see all the checkpoints, it’s super interesting.
Ledra Street is not only a great street to go to because it’s an awesome pedestrian street, but it’s also one of the main entryways from the north into the south. But you’ll find so many people on this popular street because there are tons of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, and more, with so much great energy going on.
If you want to take a little break from the city, go visit the Athalassa National Forest Park, which is just outside the city center. There is a stunning lake in the middle of the park that you can walk around on the many walking paths, and there are lots of spots to have picnics, playgrounds to play in for kids, and more.
