If you’re a huge fan of architecture, São Paulo is one of the cities you should put on your bucket list. This Brazilian metropolis is home to many stunning modern buildings, but if you have a soft spot for classic architecture, here are three places you should check out while here.

Ipiranga Museum

This cultural institution is also known as Paulista Museum, and it’s extremely historically significant because it was built in the place where Brazilian independence was proclaimed. It was inspired by the Palace of Versailles and it’s one of the city’s biggest marvels of classic architecture.

São Paulo Cathedral

São Paulo’s largest religious building has been decades in the making before opening its doors in 1954, but it was worth the wait. Its Renaissance-style dome pays homage to the Cathedral of Florence, while the rest of the building was designed in the Gothic revival style.

Municipal Market of São Paulo

Amazing examples of Eclectic architecture are scattered all around São Paulo, and this market is one of the very best. It will take your breath away with its classic columns, vaults, façade, and intricately decorated stained glass windows.
