Baku is one of those cities where you can find the perfect harmony between east and west, old and new. The capital of Azerbaijan went through the stage of rapid growth in the past few decades and it’s now home to countless modern buildings, but these three are some of its very best.

Flame Towers

Flame Towers are one of Baku’s most recognizable symbols, despite the fact they’ve only been around since 2013. The flame-shaped towers mostly serve as a residential and business complex, but it’s truly impressive to watch them from the outside, especially when epic light shows take place.

Heydar Aliyev Centre

Heydar Aliyev Centre is the work of art of the famed architect Zaha Hadid, and it’s truly a sight to behold. Its white walls and folding shape transformed it into one of Baku’s most popular and recognizable attractions, and you can find an auditorium, art gallery, and a museum on its premises.

Azerbaijan Carpet Museum

Baku is home to a museum dedicated to the history of Azerbaijani carpets and rugs, and you’ll be impressed by it even before you step inside. The building where this museum is housed resembles a rolled-up carpet, finished with traditional gold adornments.
