Sometimes, you just don’t want to go crazy sightseeing on your next vacation. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is simply to clear my mind and relax, and it’s easy to reach this goal if you know where to travel.

North America is my home continent, and there’s no shortage of beautiful places to disconnect there. Here’s a selection of places in North America where you can clear your mind.

Banff National Park

Banff National Park, located in the province of Alberta and containing one of the most pristine sections of peaks in the Rocky Mountains, is spectacular, virgin, and untouched. Here, you can easily feel like the only person in the world as you peer at nature’s spectacle.

Baja California

Looking to chill out, surfer style? Head to Baja California! This Mexican peninsula, located directly south of California, features untouched, virgin beaches where you can live care-free as you travel down the coast in a camper van. You’ll love it.

Crater Lake

Crater Lake is one of the most awe-inspiring natural sites in the United States. A pristine, blue lake fills the interior of a volcanic caldera at this spectacular park, where crowds are low and the beauty level is high.

Bermuda

Looking for an island destination without the huge crowds of tourist hotspots like Jamaica and the Dominican Republic? This island nation located off of the East Coast of the United States is slow and relaxed. You’ll love the beauty of its beaches, which aren’t ruined by overcrowding.
