Galicia’s Best Beaches are Gorgeous

The region of Galicia in northwestern Spain isn’t particularly well-known for its beaches compared to other destinations in the country. That doesn’t mean, however, that it doesn’t have fantastic sandy swaths.

The water might be cold at these beaches, but the scenery and sand are second-to-none. Here are three Galician beaches that you must visit.

Praia das Catedrais

Cathedrals Beach, located in the far northeast of the province, features natural arches and rock formations that can only be seen at low tide. Time your visit right, and you’ll be able to stroll past impressive natural sculptures that you won’t soon forget.

Praia da Lanzada

Galicia’s Rias Baixas region lights up in the summer when tourists from Spain and other parts of the world come to visit its pristine beaches. Lanzada, located near the town of O Grove, has three kilometers of pristine sand and an environment that’s perfect for activities such as wind and kitesurfing.

Praia de Rodas

The Guardian named this beach, located on the Cies Islands just outside of Vigo, the best in the world in 2007, and it’s easy to see why. It looks Caribbean despite its temperate location, with pale blue, crystal-clear water and pillow-like white sand. Go here, and go here soon.
