Traveling is fun for a myriad of reasons, but there’s one thing that’s important to settle while you’re out and about: where you’ll be staying. There are multiple options you can choose from, including Airbnbs, but for the sake of this article, we’ll be analyzing two popular options: hotels and hostels. So what are the pros and cons for each?

Hotels

Right off the bat, the most obvious allure when it comes to hotels is its luxury. Why wouldn’t you want to stay in a private room, get personal housekeeping, and swim in a refreshing pool in your backyard?

Well, because it’s more expensive. In addition to that, you might have a hard time meeting people while you’re staying at a hotel. But if you’re traveling with the mindset of just chilling out and enjoying the good life, then a hotel is for you.

Hostels

Although hostels are considerably cheaper, they’re also smaller, crowded, and you probably won’t have much privacy. We’re talking shared bunks, communal closets and showers, and essentially a party in your bedroom.

This, of course, is also the benefit of staying in a hostel. There are people all around you, and you’ll meet new people without even trying. If that’s your goal while traveling, then staying at a hostel is the way to go!

Switching It Up

Finally, there’s also the option to do both! When you’re looking to cut costs and party with some strangers, stay at a hostel for a week or so.

Then, when you’re all partied out and need some luxury time to yourself, treat yourself to a couple nights at a hotel.
