It’s one thing to go on a three-week trip to a foreign country. It’s another matter entirely to study abroad for an entire semester. If you study in another country for three or four months, a year, or even multiple years, your funds can easily be depleted if you’re not careful. Here a few practical ways to conserve money while studying abroad.

Cook More

Just like it is at home, the less you eat out, the more money you’ll save. The difference here is that restaurants in foreign cities can be a lot more tempting. Therefore, it’s important not to be swayed by these places, and instead opt to cook food for yourself wherever you’re living.

Live With Roommates

Oftentimes when studying abroad it can be hard to find people to live with. You don’t know anyone in this city, and even if your classmates are also studying abroad like you, that doesn’t mean you’re friends with them. However, going the extra mile to seek out potential roommates can save you thousands and thousands of dollars.

Limit Your Partying

Remember that you’re not there to party every other night. You can enjoy the occasional night out with friends, but if you indulge yourself every single night, you’ll find yourself spending a fortune on drinks alone.
