As avid travelers, there are few things that excite us more than preparing for a trip. As beauty fanatics, however, we’re no strangers to the complications of maintaining a beauty routine on the road. Limited space and airline restrictions often make it difficult to fit all of our regular products into one bag, and it can be tough to decide what to bring and what to leave behind. For quick trips and times when we’re especially short on space, we’ve figured out a few ways to make the most of what room we do have. Read on for some of our best tips and tricks.

Choose shampoo bars

Swapping your traditional shampoo and conditioner for bar versions is an easy way to save space and reduce your consumption of single-use plastics. Shampoo bars are made with the same ingredients as their liquid counterparts, but are compact into a solid shape that’s TSA-approved for air travel. They can also last for several months, as opposed to travel-sized bottles of traditional shampoo.

Prioritize versatile items

When traveling with limited space, your best bet is to prioritize products that can be used for several purposes as much as possible. Think moisturizers with SPF that can be worn both day and night, and combination makeup like lip & cheek stains.

Save free samples

Rather than spend money on specialty miniature bottles of your favorite products, take advantage of free samples and gifts with purchase whenever you can. Put them in a separate bag and save them for your future travels.
