You don’t have to throw out your entire exercise routine while traveling. There are a handful of things that you can do in a foreign city that aren’t necessarily connected to outright exercise that are still forms of exercise—and we’ll explain what we mean by that. So if you’re trying to stay in shape but don’t exactly want to go to a gym while in a foreign city, here’s one way that you can still stay active.

Exploring a City

The most obvious and common thing to do when traveling is to explore a city. But it’s not all about taking buses and Ubers. More often than not you can find yourself walking for hours on end, from one landmark to the next. You’ll feel exhausted at the end of the day, knowing full well that you haven’t really stopped moving.

This is what we mean when we say you can get exercise without even really thinking about it. Trust us when we say that you’ll feel like you’ve done an entire workout after one long day of exploration—and you’ll feel like you never even left the gym at home. So make sure to do some exploring when you arrive at your next destination!
