Having a Kurtosh is on the tourists ‘to-do list in Hungary’ , followed by uploading a picture of them holding it in front of a known monument or building. Kurtosh have become a big trend on the social media, but not only there. In real life, it has become something very popular and today you can find it with different flavors and fillings.
Kurtosh is made from sweet, yeast dough, of which a strip is spun, wrapped around a con-shaped baking spit, and then rolled in granulated sugar. It is brushed with melted butter while still baking. During the baking process as well, the sugar stuck on the Kurtosh turns into caramel and forms a shiny, crispy crust. The cake can then be topped with additional ingredients such as cinnamon or grounded walnuts.
Passing in front of a bakery that makes these delicious Kurtosh, can drive you crazy. These incredible smells are impossible to explain.
