Keeping Fresh When Travelling

If you’re vacationing in the summer, chances are you’re going to get a little hot and bothered running for a train or waiting for hours in a stifling airport lounge. Not feeling your freshest is a surefire way to bring down the holiday mood, so follow these tips and tricks to make sure you stay cool and comfortable.

Pack A Scarf

Bring a small cotton or silk scarf in your hand luggage, ensuring it is easily accessible. This can be used to cover exposed skin from the sun if you’re waiting outside, or if it’s really hot, as a cold compress. Soak it in some water and wrap it around your neck or forehead to cool down quickly.

Consider Your Makeup

If you’re wearing makeup, don’t opt for anything too heavy on your skin. Sweating through your foundation and then sitting like that for hours is enough to make anyone miserable. Pack a cooling moisturizer, one with plenty of aloe vera in it, and smooth over your skin whenever it’s feeling tight or parched. The benefit of not wearing heavy makeup is that you can splash water over your face if needed, without worrying about your mascara running.

Try Solid Perfume

If you’re worried that your antiperspirant has stopped working, you might be tempted to douse yourself in as much perfume as possible. Carrying large amounts of liquid through security isn’t easy, so take a solid perfume instead. With a consistency like a lip balm, these scented creams can be dabbed onto pulse points where they will melt into the skin. Just as effective as a liquid perfume, some solid perfumes have the added benefit of moisturizing skin.

Keeping your cool whilst traveling will help make the whole experience feel much more comfortable and enjoyable. All it takes is some simple packing adjustments and a bit of planning, so make sure you don’t get caught out in the heat this summer.
