Picos de Europa
Picos de Europa National Park is one of Spain’s gems, comprising a set of peaks that rise thousands of feet above sea level and mark the transition between the green northern coast and the semi-arid interior. The southwest part of the park is located in Leon and must be seen to be believed.
Las Medulas
The Romans once mined gold in what is now the province of León, and this heritage is on display at Las Medulas. Here, humans interacted with the small rolling mountains thousands of years ago, using water to break up the hills and find gold. Now, you can see the remnants of this activity in this beautiful landscape.
Cueva de Valporquero
Located underneath the town of Valporquero is a cave whose temperature remarkably stays at 45°F all year round. You will love the nearly one-mile walk underground here, seeing spectacular stalactites and stalagmites along with creeks and streams.
