From amazing architecture and hilltop views to Fado music and tasty treats, Lisbon has a lot to offer to every traveler who sets foot in this city. Its spectacular bridges are some of its very best architectural marvels, and these three will take your breath away.

Ponte 25 de Abril

One of the symbols of Lisbon, this suspension bridge serves as the link between the Portuguese capital and the neighboring city of Almada. It looks like a carbon copy of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate because they both share the same striking red color.

Vasco da Gama Bridge

This cable-stayed bridge over the Tagus River is often overshadowed by Ponte 25 de Abril, but it’s still pretty spectacular. Ever since it was built in 1998, it held the record as the second-longest bridge in Europe after Crimean Bridge in Russia, spanning the incredible 17 kilometers.

Águas Livres Aqueduct

Águas Livres Aqueduct may seem pretty simple when compared to the previous two bridges, but it comes with an interesting backstory. It was one of the wonders of Portuguese engineering in the 18th century when it was built to supply Lisbon with drinking water.
