Long Layovers are a Good Thing, Not a Bad Thing

If you’re trying to save money by booking a flight with a long layover, we understand how that can seem daunting. After all, all you really want to do is reach your final destination and not mess around with any other places. And airports aren’t exactly Disneyland. But with a proper mindset shift, long layovers can actually be an incredible thing, and here’s why.

Free Trip

A long layover is basically a free extra flight to another destination. If say, you have an eight-hour layover in Amsterdam, you’re basically being given a free gift. As long as you don’t have too much luggage on you (usually it’ll just be your carry-on), you now have the opportunity to leave the airport and explore Amsterdam to your heart’s desire.

A Fun Distraction

When you look back on this trip in years to come, instead of it being a non-memorable flight, you’ll actually create new memories in whichever city you visited. Even though you’re only going to be there for a half-day in most cases, you still have plenty of time to take in a beautiful experience that you’ll never forget. So leave the airport, grab a beer, and enjoy the culture!
