Thailand is home to a staggering array of temples that can be found throughout the country. They are divinely inspired spaces that consecrate the union of heaven and earth. They are a must-see for any tourist wishing to soak up Thailand’s religious culture. Here are some of the must-see Thai temples.

The White Temple

Constructed in 1997, this new temple has stunningly elaborate architecture that is all white as snow. It has a fairytale feel and a famous bridge of the “cycle of rebirth”, where outstretched hands reach for the sky.

Wat Chaiwatthanaram

This imposing temple complex was constructed in the ancient capital of Thailand. The architecture was built according to traditional Buddhist principles of the continuity between the human world and nature. The temples are built like mountains, streams, and woods.

Sanctuary of Truth

This awe-inspiring wooden structure is being built as we speak. Begun in 1981, it is projected to be completed in 2050. It is entirely covered in detailed illustrations of the Buddhist and Hindu world views. It is an architectural expression of the core philosophies of these national religions.
