Mexico, one the most famous holiday destinations ever, is also the home of an island dedicated to women, appropriately known as “Isla Mujeres” or the “Women’s island.”

A part of Cancun, the Isla Mujeres is known for its long, sandy beaches, like Playa Norte, and the many lavish hotel complexes across the island.

The best activity you can do on Mujeres, other than sunbathing and swimming, is diving around the beautiful coral reefs.

The Punta Sur, located in the southern part of the island, has a lighthouse as well as remains of an ancient Mayan temple.

But if history is not your thing when on vacation, why not go a bit south and visit the main refuge of the adorable sea turtles?

The island is small and it has only around 13,000 inhabitants, so the place is calm and relaxing. A real, small piece of paradise that despite the unique name is more than welcoming to all of the tourists that want to visit it and enjoy its blessings.
