Most Beautiful Islands Off the Coast of Uruguay

Uruguay is a heaven on Earth for fans of wine and tango, but its natural beauty also makes it worth the trip. Islands off the coast of Uruguay are few and far between, but you should still consider checking them out.

Gorriti Island

This tiny island off the coast of Punta del Este is best known for its pristine beaches, and it’s a popular day-trip destination. It only takes 30 minutes to reach it from Punta del Este’s yacht harbor, and ferries usually leave every half hour.

Isla de Flores

Isla de Flores is located in close proximity to Montevideo, and flowers aren’t its biggest attraction despite what its name might suggest. Most people come here to check out historical ruins and lighthouse, which has been around since 1828.

Isla de Lobos

Not to be confused with the Spanish Lobos Island, Isla de Lobos is another island off the coast of Punta del Este. Just like Isla de Flores, it’s home to a beautiful historical lighthouse, and it’s a part of a nature reserve together with Gorriti Island, thanks to the large colony of sea lions and fur seals that inhabit it.
