Over the last decade, Seoul has opened itself to the world much more than ever before. This trend influenced not only the food and pop culture but also helped developed the local art. Now the city has some impressive museums and galleries that are definitely worth a visit.

SeMa

Seoul Museum of Art is one of the biggest museums in the city. It displays both international and local fine arts. If you plan your visit ahead, you can participate in a free art class that covers the techniques of Korean traditional arts.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Some would say this place is a work of art in itself. This amazing building is the home to many art halls—mostly focused on modern art and design. It also has an incubator for local designers, where they share their works and thoughts.

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

This was the first museum in Korea that opened up to Western art and started displaying contemporary art from other countries. Now it has a good mixture of both local and international work.
