If you’ve finally worked yourself up to a place where you’re ready to go on an adventure, we tip our cap off to you. Others may make it look easy, but if you’re a shy person who doesn’t do well in social gatherings, you might find the idea of traveling pretty scary. If you’ve overcome your fear and are preparing for your first trip, here are some tips to make sure it’s awesome!

Set Low Expectations

The worst thing you can do for yourself on your first big trip is set the bar super high. The first step is just to get out there; there’s no need to expect it to blow your mind. Be unassuming about what may happen, and you may just be surprised for the better.

Take Baby Steps

Similar to setting low expectations, it’s important to start off slow with your travel escapades. Don’t go for a five-month trip the first time you decide to go on a trip. Go for a couple of weeks to a relatively close location, so you can ease yourself into traveling comfortably and happily.

Be Ready To Be Surprised

While yes, it’s important to start slow and lower expectations, we’re now going to advise something that sounds like the exact opposite: be ready for anything. Surprises will happen on your trip, so be open-minded. Embrace this mindset and enjoy your trip every step of the way, through the good and the bad.
