A trip to Japan is incomplete if you don’t take some time to visit Osaka, especially if you happen to be a fan of modern architecture. You’ll stumble upon many innovative architectural gems while roaming the streets of this city, and here are three that will knock you off your feet.

Umeda Sky Building

One of Osaka’s biggest architectural landmarks, Umada consists of two sky-high buildings and a wide atrium-like space that connects them. Its exterior is impressive in its own right, but the real magic starts when you reach its rooftop observatory, where you’ll get to see Osaka from a height of 170 meters.

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

If you happen to be a huge fan of public aquariums, you’ll be happy to hear that Osaka is home to the largest one in the entire world. It’s instantly recognizable thanks to its futuristic building, best known for its colorful and whimsical design.

The National Museum of Art

The impressive exterior of Osaka’s National Museum of Art is a great interlude to everything that awaits inside. The building, designed by Cesar Pelli, is a work of art in itself, and it’s impossible to miss because it resembles a giant bird made out of stainless steel.
