Reasons to Take Your Family on a Train Ride in Europe

A train may not be the most obvious way to travel—but it definitely has its advantages. It’s especially great in Europe, where trains are clean and fast. There are so many great things to see in Europe, and picking the right way to travel can make all the difference in your itinerary. Here’s why we think train is the best option, especially for families with kids.

Plenty of Room

Not having to keep the seatbelt on means you’re free to move around, which can make the trip so much nicer. Kids typically don’t like sitting still, so they’ll be happy to be able to get up, sit, or lay down as they want.

Convenience

Contrary to the airports—which are not located near city centers—train stations are easily accessible, and you don’t have to check in hours before the time on your ticket. You can often get from one place to another faster and cheaper than by any other means of transportation, and your luggage will be with you the whole time, minimizing the risk of losing it.

You Can Sleep

Booking a sleeping car is one of the best things you can do if you’re traveling during night or simply want to rest between destinations. This may not be possible with small kids, but perhaps you can even save some money by traveling by night—so you can skip a hotel. Don’t do this for two nights in a row, though; get a place where you can put your things, shower, and sleep in a proper bed.
