Should You Stop Using Airbnb?

For years, Airbnb has dominated the travel accommodations industry. It was convenient, it was affordable, and it offered unique local experiences. But recently, there has been a movement of people who have broken up with Airbnb. Why is that? Here are just some of the reasons.

It’s Less Personal Now

While Airbnbs used to be all about finding authentic locations with knowledgeable, local hosts, things have changed in the 13 years since the company was founded. Today, many Airbnbs are hosted by companies that don’t offer the personal touch that you might be looking for. Instead, they give you boring apartments with no character and unavailable hosts.

Hotels Are More Reliable — And Sometimes Cheaper

Many people choose Aribnbs over hotels because of the cost, but Airbnb has gotten more and more expensive over the years to the point that it is now often the pricier option when compared with hotels. Plus, hotels have the benefits of housekeeping services, concierge services, and easier check-in procedures.

The Customer Service Isn’t Great

On top of all of that, there are many horror stories about Airbnb’s customer service. People have had bad experiences with confusing policies and disputes over hundreds of dollars that go unresolved.

Of course, it’s a totally personal choice where to stay when traveling. But these factors may be worth considering depending on your priorities and budget.
